Born and raised in the town of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Javier’s family and culture introduced him to the world of arts during his childhood. As he grew older, he was drawn to photography as a means of expression and began to define his style. This creative outlet turned his passion into a career by opening doors to many opportunities ranging from photography, advertising, graphic arts, and website design. In 2010, Javier opened his first photography and graphic arts studio in Mayagüez, where he devoted his time to commercial, wedding, real estate, and fashion photography.
In 2012 Javier decided to go back to what inspired him to create in the first place; landscape and surfing photography. This motivated him to move to Rincón where he opened F. Javier Gil Gallery, located in the Public Plaza. He has been able to create his own space with a fusion of modern-rustic designs and handcrafted wood detailing where you can appreciate his photography pieces printed in different mediums, such as metal, canvas, t-shirts, and others.
